Which size weighted blanket or comforter should I choose?

We recommend trying our interactive Sleep Quiz to find the best option for you. But if you'd like to read more about our offerings, please see below.

The Mini

Great for kids or adults: We first designed the Mini in response to requests for a weighted blanket for kids. However, many adults love the Mini as well! It's a great option for anyone who wants a lighter blanket that's easier to lift and move around; or if you're a smaller person and want a smaller weighted blanket that won't feel overwhelming. The Mini is offered in three colors. It weighs about 4kg (9lbs) and measures approx. 100 x150 cm (40x60 inches).

Weighted Throw

Our most popular size: If you’re looking for a Baloo blanket that you can snuggle up with on the couch or take with you to bed, try our best selling Weighted Throw. At  5.4kg / 12lb and about the size of a single bed is our most versatile size and perfect for individual use for most anyone. It's easy to carry, easy to clean, and ideal to give as a gift. Because it's smaller than many of our "heavier" blankets, the weight is actually more concentrated on the body, making it feel a little heavier than our 6.8kg / 15lb King weighted blanket, and a little lighter than our 9lb / 20lb option.

Great for couples: The Throw is also perfect for couples who share a bed, but who each want their own weighted blanket -- or if one person wants a weighted blanket but the other person isn't so sure! It's also a perfect size to try for the first time, to see if a weighted blanket is right for both of you.

Weighted Blankets

Fit the TOP of the bed: Our "classic" style is the Baloo Weighted Blanket, designed to fit the TOP of the bed. Aside from the Throw, we offer two bed sizes in this style: one for a Double or King bed, and the other for a Super King. (Note: all bed sizes referenced are UK sizes.)

Lighter or Heavier: Which to choose? For Double or King beds, we offer two weight options: 6.8kg (15lb) or 9kg (20lb). In general, we recommend about 10% of your body weight, but it really comes down to personal preference. If you are over age 65, have joint pain - especially in your knees, hips, or back - or if you tend to sleep on your side, then we suggest going with the lighter option. If you are a healthy adult who usually sleeps on your front or back, and you think you'd enjoy a heavier sensation, then the heavier blanket may be just right for you.

Not great for sharing: We do not recommend the Double/King weighted blanket for couples who wish to share a blanket; it won't be big enough for two people. Try either two 12lb Throws or a Weighted Comforter instead!

Super King Size: If you have a Super King size bed and like the classic style that fits the top of the bed, then we suggest our 11.3kg (25lb) weighted blanket, which measures approx. 200 x 220 cm (80x87 inches). Don't worry about following the 10% of your body weight rule here. The weight is distributed over a larger area, so the blanket won't feel as heavy on your body as it sounds.

Sharing a Super King size blanket: The Super King blanket is technically big enough to be shared by two people, as long as you don't both sleep on the edge of the bed! Otherwise, we suggest two Throws or our Weighted Comforter.

Weighted Comforters

Perfect for couples, or if you just know what you love: If you want a larger weighted blanket to share with a partner, or if you just want the look of a larger, traditional comforter, then that's where Baloo's Weighted Comforter comes in. Our Weighted Comforter comes in two sizes. The smaller size (approx. 200 x 200 cm or 90 x 90 inches) fits a Double or King bed, while the larger size (234 x 274 cm, or 92 x 108 inches) fits a Super King. Unlike the Weighted Blanket the comforter is designed to drape over the sides of the bed.

Our unique design: What makes the Comforter special is that it's weighted only in the part that rests on top of the bed, so there's no extra weight pulling down towards the edges. Keep in mind that the comforters still weigh a few pounds more than the weighted blankets of each size, just because they're larger and have more fabric. The "weights" (e.g. 6.8kg, 9kg, and 11.3kg) are based on the actual weighted area since that's what you'll feel, but the box will be a little heavier. The Comforter has little tabs at one end to tell you which side goes at the head of the bed.
